STUDYING THIS WEEK COURSE MATERIALS

Read and study two cases on Scheduling Flights when Weather is the Enemy (at the beginning of chapter 15, p. 600-601) and Starbucks’ Controversial Scheduling Software (p. 619).
Input-output control in short-term scheduling. Understand the example of input-output control described in the lecture materials (textbook). Job loading: Gantt charts and assignment method.
Sequencing (priority) rules and techniques: scheduling on one machine. Performance criteria and sequencing rules. Study examples in the Excel file and video clip on job sequencing with one machine.
Sequencing on two machines utilizing the Johnson’s rule. Study examples in the Excel file and video clip on job sequencing with one machine.
