Interview a Child in Middle or High School, Teen Interview (6th-12th)

Read the assignment carefully before you choose the age you want to interview. Get permission from the child’s parents before the interview.Make sure questions are appropriate for the age. The Interview paper should be 3-4 pages in length and must contain Child development terminology relating the adolescent’s development to different theories/theorists 25 points)

Introduction

Include child’s name, age, and grade. Cover family information (who lives in home, cultural background, language(s) spoken, etc).

List the questions asked and the answers given. Choose at least 15 of the following questions. You can also add your own questions:

What do you know about cyber dating? Bullies? Eating Disorders? Tattoos? Body Piercing?

Who should teach sexual education? School or Home or Both? Why?

 

When you have personal issues, who do you talk with? Parents, Friends……

How do you feel about drinking, smoking and drugs?

 

How do you deal with stress at your age? What causes stress?

What is your relationship with your family, friends, siblings, relatives?

How do you feel about peers who don’t take care of themselves? Daily showers?

Evaluation

Evaluation of information gained during the interview. Summarize your interview and provide an assessment of that specific child, is this similar to what you experienced or what you thought the child would say? What is different? Why? How does the information relate to your readings from the text? Use child development terminology and theory to support your evaluation. What stage(s) of development is the child in, give examples?
