If you ACTUALLY negotiated, explain what happened during your negotiation:

  • WHAT advance preparation was done? (Simply presume what the other parties did or didn’t do.)
  • HOW did the bargaining process unfold? (What offers/counteroffers were made?)
  • WHAT STEPS were taken by each party, as they attempted to achieve their desired outcome?
  • Which TACTICS (employed by any party) were successful? (Who was influenced the MOST?)
  • What was the OUTCOME? (Was a settlement reached? If so, what were the terms?)

 

If you AVOIDED negotiating:

  • What MOTIVATIONS drove your decision to avoid a negotiation attempt?
  • What was the OUTCOME? (What was your alternative action? Were you satisfied?)
