Socrates claimed the unexamined life was not worth living. What did he mean by that? How does this maxim relate to the topic of philosophy? Do you agree with Socrates? Why or why not? Please give reasons to support your claim.
Socrates means that an unexamined human life is deprived of the meaning and purpose of existence. To become fully human means to use our highly developed faculty of thought to raise our existence above that of mere beasts. I do agree with Socrates as we do need to be our best selves and ensure we rise above those that don’t choose to “do their best- leaving them with the beasts rather them being a good human in our world.
