Participant Observation/Structured Observation in- class assignment and homework
For this assignment,conduct a study that is heavily used in psychology and criminology. To properly complete this study, students must read and follow the reading “structured Observation” and the link which provides step-by-step instructions. Student will be graded in part by how well they can interpret instructions based in a reading.
There will not be many instructions here (and that is the point). However, for this study, students should include the following things (minimum):
- A 30-minute observation (no pictures or recording, as you do not have ethics to do so)
- Students must have a behaviour they are interested in
- A research hypothesis
- A method for observation (checklist with a list of items you will notice)
- The place, time frame, and outline for study such as why they choose the location, time and behaviour
- Must be typed or written
- 2-4 pages
