choose two or three examples of “good” academic writing from “Hooks and Sinkers” and “Show and Tell.” Here, “good” can mean stylish, engaging, thought-provoking, creative, effective, or otherwise impressive according to Sword’s criteria–and your own. You might even examine a passage of Sword’s own writing here. No matter which examples you examine, consider the following general questions as you explain what makes these examples better than others:
- What draws you to these examples?
- What specifically is effective about them?
- How do they contrast with other examples that are less effective?
