Madonna and Child with the Young Saint John the Baptist ca. 1497 Fra Bartolomeo
Use at least two quotes from the annotated discussion of Masaccio and at least one from my introduction to the Renaissance or the Crash Course introduction to the Renaissance (both from the prior module) to provide an explanation of why Fra Bartolomeo’s Madonna and Child with the Young Saint John the Baptist is so much more pictorially naturalistic, humanitarian, realistic, empirical and expressive relative to the Berlinghiero and Duccio from one hundred years before in Florence.
Does this dfference in your opinion give weight to Petrarch’s declaration of a new age?
