Scenario: You have been hired as an Information Security Specialist and have been hired by Insecure.org to work at the company. Your first assignment is to examine one of the company websites to see what information could be obtained about the company and its employees. To do this you will download and use an old favorite Nmap or its Windows version Zenmap.
Submission: You should submit a document showing the results of your work and the results of the different commands being run from Nmap and answer the questions listed below. The interface is very intuitive, just put the URL into the box in the upper left column and run the different utilities to gather the information. The video using Nmap will help you use the interface. The questions can be answered by looking at the results of the scan.
Questions: 1. What is the IP address for the URL you were given?
- What open ports were found from the scan?
- What are these open ports used for?
- What is the geographic location for this IP address?
- What is the most likely operating system used for the website?
- What services are likely available on the website?
- How many hops did it take to get to the URL from your location? What were they?
