POS system
Your establishment has recently adopted a new handheld POS system. Previously the restaurant used a handwritten system of communication. The handwritten system was used for communicating guest’s orders and for bill preparation.
Using the reading from POS notes, POS manufacturer websites or literature and the supplemental notes provided to you, complete the following:
1) List the advantages and disadvantages to a handheld POS system. (5 Marks)
2) The restaurant currently uses a server to guest ratio of 1:15 and has 300 seats. The salesperson claims that the handheld POS system can save each server up to 10 minutes of time away from guests over the course of a 5 hour dinner period. Will the time savings affect your server to guest ratio? How? Will the time savings impact your upcoming schedules? How?
