Synthesize communication, collaboration, critical thinking, research, leadership, and teaching/learning knowledge when functioning as a leader or member of an intra/inter-professional health care team.
During the clinical rotation you are working with other healthcare professionals from many different disciplines. A common goal of health care systems include achieving quality care while efficiently managing assets (including staffing) while controlling cost. As a leader, and or member of a health care team, sometimes you face challenges in team function, communication, roles establishment etc.
Reflect on your clinical experience and discuss:
- One challenge you have faced with collaboration, communication, and/or project development.
or
- If you have not experienced a challenge in this area, reflect on the system and the contributing factors that have helped facilitate the project development.
(Remember not to refer to the agency by name or to your preceptor by name. You are welcome to use terms such as: a rural healthcare inpatient agency, clinical preceptor etc. Make sure that you identify the topic of the project.)
Discussion Board questions will consist of an informal writing assignment based on a question/prompt
provided in the assignment folder. While informal in nature, these assignments will require use of
assigned readings, and critical and creative thinking to obtain the best grades. Discussion board
postings should be based on knowledge gained during this course from assigned readings, videos,
websites, and additional literature/research the student obtains to address the assigned question.
- Substantial Initial Post (15 points): In order for the initial post to be considered substantial it needs
to include a clear understanding of the topic based on professional knowledge, not personal
opinion. The post should include in-text citations and full references, at least two (2) from
professional sources; and one of the references must be from the literature the student finds, not
from assigned readings. Please make sure all elements of the question is addressed in the initial
post. (The initial post should be submitted in the discussion board thread attached as a word
document.)
