This assignment aims to test your understanding of chapters 4, 6 and 12 as measured by the texts we read in our Scientific and Technical Communication course.
1) Describe Nancy Hoft’s seven major categories of cultural variable. Why are those
important?
2) Describe the eight conventional patterns of organization (p. 105), chapter 6, of the
textbook. Please use additional external sources.
3) Describe body paragraphs and transitional paragraphs; then explain the process of
structuring paragraphs clearly.
4) Explain the writing process of informational reports (p. 316). Make sure you elaborate
more with external sources.
5) Describe with details the process of writing progress and status reports, including
organization and conclusion (p. 320 – 322).
You must only choose two of the above questions and elaborate as much as you can to
complete the three-page essay. Make sure you state each of the two selected questions in the
essay and use at least three sources, including your book. The essay should have introduction,
body and conclusion.
