All of us have dealt with culture shock in one form or another, be it spending time in a new country or culture, getting to know the corporate culture of a new job, going to college or graduate school, or at other times in our lives. Take a moment and consider a time when you experienced one of the above situations (or something like it) and answer the following questions:

(1) Describe the culture you immersed yourself in. Why did you decide to engage with this new culture?

(2) What were your first experiences in the new culture like?

(3) After a time, did you begin to experience symptoms of culture shock?
