You finished reading the novel, and you would like to add or modify a scene. You can make up a new character, rewrite an existing character’s scene, or write the scene with you as the character. Write a 4-6-page scene. You should include a description of where this scene would fall in the book and how this would impact the ending of the novel.

Choose 1 of our characters. Ask a critical question about your character’s journey and answer it.

Analyze the author’s argument. What is the author’s argument in his/her book? Does he/she succeed in convincing her reader of her argument? Why or why not?

Analyze your novel’s ending. Why does the author choose to end his/her novel the way she does? What is your interpretation of the ending? What do you think happens after the ending?

Be a minimum of 4-6 pages to fully develop the prompt you chose.

Avoid simply summarizing the text.

Have a CREATIVE title for your essay but do not bold, italicize, or use a different font for the title.

Remember: the grade is assigned after the final paragraph. Don’t tail off at the end of your paper. Give yourself enough time to finish with a flourish.

Adhere to MLA guidelines:

last name and page number on the upper right-hand corner of each page, double space, 12 point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, no extra space between paragraphs, follow in-text citation guidelines

Include proper header format in the upper left-hand corner of the first page Include a Works Cited page.

Cite all in-text quotes in the following format: “quote” . note there is no comma or “p” or “pg” or paragraph number in the parenthesis and there is no punctuation before the citation , and the period goes after the end of the citation.
