- What if you were the governor of California and you received a letter from a death row inmate asking for clemency? The inmate explains that he was very young when he became a member of the blood gang and that he did so because of an abusive childhood. One year later, he shot several people as part of a gang shooting. He received the death penalty. In the past 20 years on death row, the inmate has changed his life and developed youth programs to help youth at danger of getting involved in gangs. His execution is scheduled for the following week. He is asking you to grant him clemency. What would you do and why?
