Your new clients are the parents of nine year old Brooke. They come to you with concerns about Brooke’s behavior and express how frustrated they are because she doesn’t listen or do what they ask. She frequently compares her life to that of other girls in her class and says she is just trying to fit in.
Discuss how you would address these concerns to the parents. Include information on what is developmentally appropriate for the age, any variables that might be influencing Brooke’s behavior, and ways the parents might try to address these issues with her such as reinforcement, praise, consequences, et cetera.
