You will write two (2) essays, each focused on a case/lecture. You are encouraged, but
not required, to select from the cases on which you wrote your reflection papers. These essays should attempt to answer the question posed, and thus have a clear thesis and an explicit, structured argument in support thereof. Some outside research is encouraged, including the review of unedited versions of the assigned case, other Supreme Court cases, or secondary sources (such as law review or other scholarly articles, some of which your TA may be able to recommend). If you incorporate quotations or material from other sources, they must be cited as such. You may approach the given case from a normative, historical, political, economic, philosophical, cultural, or social perspective, seeking to explain why the case was decided as it was, or what the case reveals about America, or how the principles of the case should be applied to a contemporary problem.
