Network Topologies and the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model
For this assignment, you will submit a paper discussing several networking standards related to network structure (topologies) and interconnectivity (the OSI model). Using the readings from this unit as your primary source, provide a summary of each of the following topics related to network standards.
Assume that the audience for your paper knows nothing about the topic and you need to explain the concepts and terms to them. In addition to the readings for Unit I in uCertify, you may use other reliable, academic sources that you find online.
Define topology as it relates to computer networks.
List and describe the topologies covered in this unit. Include at least one advantage and disadvantage of each topology.
Explain what the OSI model is and how it is used.
Explain how an understanding of topologies and the OSI model can help someone understand and troubleshoot network issues.
You should include graphics or images in your explanations of topologies and the OSI model. Size any graphics or images that you use, so that they make up one third or less of your response, in total. Be sure to cite all of your sources and include in-text citations throughout your response.
Your paper should be at least three pages in length, not counting the title page and reference page (title and reference pages do not count toward the total page requirement). You must include an introduction. If outside sources are used, please adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment. APA formatting, however, is not necessary.
