How did you create culturally and linguistically diverse activities? Will the children be active? How will you assess if the children have learned what you wanted them to learn? How will you connect with the families?

Language Arts and Reading Activities/Lesson Plans for Diverse Groups
This project will focus on learning how to write lesson plans that are connected directly to standards. This assignment aligns instructional activities with Florida Early Learning Standards. For this project, the FLORIDA EARLY LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENTAL STANDARDS will be referenced.
Florida Office of Early Learning Developmental Standards (Links to an external site.)

The student will create TWO developmentally appropriate language arts/reading lessons, connected to each of the FOUR learning domains in the Early Learning Standards listed, and designed for one specific age group (birth to age 7). The completed project will have a total of eight lesson plans.
All lessons/activities will include modifications for culturally and linguistically diverse students. Each lesson will also include extension activities to share with families.

In the lesson plan form, you will notice areas blocked out in orange. You do not need to complete the areas blocked out in orange.
Use these FOUR of the Domains of Florida Early Learning Standards:
Physical Development – 2 lesson plans
Mathematical Thinking  – 2 lesson plans
Social and Emotional Development – 2 lesson plans
Scientific Inquiry  – 2 lesson plans
(For our course, we will not be addressing the other Early Learning Standards at this time. The other standards will NOT be addressed in this project.)

In your introductory paragraph, describe:What age group will the lessons be created for? Why have you selected the lessons/activities you’ve chosen? Are the lessons teacher-directed or are they self-discovery and why? What are the instructional objectives – what do you want the children to learn? What will the children do in the lessons?

How did you create culturally and linguistically diverse activities? Will the children be active? How will you assess if the children have learned what you wanted them to learn? How will you connect with the families?
Each lesson/activity should have a description of materials needed, procedures to follow, and goals (instructional objectives) that you hope to accomplish.  Students will use the FSW lesson plan template.

Use the resources in the module to create questions at a higher level of thinking. Questions will be posed in two sections of the lesson plan – the Critical Thinking section and the Closure section. There will be a total of 8 lesson plans.
Conclude the project with a summary paragraph

Describe several specific reasons why this was an important assignment.  Discuss several concepts that you learned. How you will use standards and lesson plans in your career?
