This paper purports to highlight some of the issues that have risen to the forefront from a macroeconomic viewpoint. This paper is comprised of six essential factors. Part One is the Feds role in curtailing or exacerbating the national debt. Part Two the administration’s role specifically the president. Part Three will address if Congress should necessitate balanced budgets through legislation. Part Four discusses the effects of national debt on future generations. Part Five will examine how the national debt affects the growth of the economy. Part Six is the conclusion. The essential outcome of this paper is to spur intellectual conversation concerning the national debt. The negative spiraling direction and the seeming disregard of fiscal constraint is a national security concern that must be addressed through dialogue and consequently action.
