You will prepare an academic essay that addresses the following question: Does restorative justice work? In doing so students will need to consider the contemporary empirical and theoretical research literature on restorative justice to:
1) discuss debates in the field over the effectiveness of restorative justice, and
2) critically assess the growing amount of empirical evidence on restorative justice processes and its impact on participants.
To satisfy the above literature you will need to do extensive research so that you are effectively and faithfully presenting the current ‘thinking’ in relation to each topic. Each key point you make needs to be validated with empirical research – this is what will validate your argument and makes your work persuasive. It would be best if you spent more time constructing effective sentences. Each sentence needs to address an assessment task directly.
