According to the WHO’s Health Impact Assessment, the key determinants of health encompass the social and economic environment, the physical environment, and the individual’s characteristics and behaviors. Within these three spheres are more discrete areas of focus such as income and social status, education, and the availability of health services among others that together determine the health of a particular patient (or a population).
