Pharmacy Integrated Therapeutics Lab 4 Week 1: Dyslipidemia Case Fall 2021
Learning Objectives
After completing this case study, the reader should be able to:
• Identify patients who require treatment for dyslipidemia.
• Stratify individual patients for risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke.
• Determine appropriate LDL and non-HDL goals and thresholds based on individual risk factors.
• Recommend a cholesterol management strategy that includes therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC), drug therapy, patient education, and monitoring parameters.
Pre-Lab Activities
• Review class lectures Dyslipidemia
• Review the guidelines for management of the listed disease states
• Review chapters for disease states in either textbook ( Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, 10th Edition or Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs, 10th Edition)
Lab Activity
• Students will work with your small groups to evaluate and discuss patient case
• Answer the questions associated with the patient case
