Interview Report for Disability
Interview a family or a family member of an individual with a disability or special need. Following the interview, students will write a report that must be in narrative form. No more than 4 pages, normal margins, and 1½ spaced. Interview a family (or family member).
Prepare your questions for the family prior to the interview using course content, your research, current events and issues, media, and personal interests. Focus on:
The disability (identify, define, warning signs, symptoms, how, why, and when they begin, etc.).
The family and the disability (first awareness, initial reactions & feelings, stressors, impact of on the family (such as holidays, outings, employment functions, finances, etc.)
Sources of support for the child and the family (non-profit, medical, social services, etc.)
Education (services provided, personnel that work with the child, IEP/IFSP, school and classroom supports, etc.)
