Discussion Board Post on Gender and Society
Research news articles about violence (use the film to explore various types of examples of gender-based violence). Post one news story in your post. Use sociology to analyze how the news story or headline masks or highlights gender. Consider the intersections of race, social class, and sexuality as well.
Write a short analysis (~500 words).
1. Connect your analysis to Katz's analysis in the documentary.
2. Connect your analysis to at least 2 sociological concepts from the Gender and Society chapter. Also, consider revisiting the concept of rape culture in Chapter 3.
3. Include the news article or headline in your post.
4. Come up with a discussion question related to your analysis to pose to the rest of class to encourage engagement.
