• Define the following terms:
i. Cultural competence
ii. Cultural sensitivity
• Compare and contrast the two terms above.

2. Discuss why is it important for nurses to consider both their own socio-cultural identity as well as the client’s socio-cultural identity in their health assessment? What could be the result if the nurse does not consider either their own or the client’s socio-cultural identity in their health assessment?

3. Explain how you would incorporate a culturally competent approach to your assessment of the specific client described below. Hint: Read the scenario closely to see what information you’re provided with about the client. Consider the nursing process as you develop your interventions.
• Please include at least two specific, relevant, and evidence-informed techniques/strategies you would use within your scope as a student RPN.
• Students should then include a brief explanation for why each technique was chosen.
