INTRO
An APN have the ability to diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses. They provide continuous care and education. Studies have found that APN can provide care that is equivalent to physicians. Because NP have been shown to spend more time with patients, order relevant test they have a higher rating for patient satisfaction . the scope of practice for APN varies from state to state. Approximately 22 states, including DC allows NP to diagnose and treat patients without a physicians involvement. In contrast , Florida, where I will obtain my license requires formal relationship and documentation, supervision, delegation and authorization. APN and physicians require some form of collaboration and authorization for certain prescriptions. The states that allow for autonomous practice , give authority to prescribe medication for diagnosis and treatment without the involvement of a physician.
2- The Nurse Practice act is different in each state, it ensures that every nurse in the state of Florida meets a minimum requirement in order to practice and had obtained post basic specialized training and experience and certified by the board of nursing to operate at an advanced level. Each Nursing professional should know the rule and regulations of their state. Confusion with the laws does not obliterate responsibility for an error. The Nurse practice act allows ARNP to practice acts of medical diagnosis, treatment, writing prescriptions and performing operations. This act Is implemented to reduce the risk of harm to patients and ensure they are receiving optimal quality of care and safety . Nurses are held responsible for delivering safe and competent care. This can be done is a variety of setting .
3 – Core competencies are the abilities or skills that consist of a business tactical advantages. The NONPF has defined 9 broad areas of core competence, which includes; Scientific Foundation, leadership, Quality, practice inquiry, technology and information literacy, policy, health delivery system, ethics , independent practice. In order to graduate from the NP program, these specific objectives must be demonstrated. Most if not all NP programs use these core competencies to design their curricula. This certifies that students gain the correct skills and knowledge to practice as an advanced practitioner independently. The NONPF emphasizes that these achievements are of great benefit and significance as compared to the clinical hours performed by students. The core competencies apply nurse practitioners , regardless of what specialty. Theses competencies were established by specialists in clinical practices with advanced education. Various nurse practitioner organizations and certification boards are the task force behind the nurse practitioner core competencies.
4- Leadership competencies focuses on professional responsibility and advocacy. These competencies ensure that nurse practitioner student comprehend their scope of practice before implementing care to patients and leading the community. The practitioner student must also recognize and identify that these leadership competencies incorporate the engagement in professional organization, cultural sensitivity and communication skills.
