Explain Cost effectiveness analysis between omega-3 and Vit-D in the treatment of painful crisis in Egyptian pediatric population
Egyptian pediatric population showed an increased incidence of sickle cell anemia disease with a notably complication of painful crisis. Indeed, there is an urge to explore the recent treatment intervention of the painful crisis associated with the Sickler patient. This research study aims to (a) explore the available treatment for the painful crisis in Egypt;
(b) recommend a new experimental intervention to treat the painful crisis complication that is cost less and effective.
During ten months, 250 patients were monitored through a randomized clinical trial approved from Saudi IRB ethical committee and registered in U.S national library of medicine () under number NCT04301336. The overall results show that the most treatment intervention that shows a significantly impact of reducing the painful crisis episodes is the omegea-3 supplementation followed by Vit-D medication. Omega-3 supplementation is significantly superior to Vit-D medication on the reduction of vaso-occlusive episodes and the severity of the pain.
