Unit Objective
The objective of this unit is to explore the possibilities, practicalities, contexts and importance of exhibition. The term ‘exhibition’ you may take to refer to any way in which art can be presented or distributed to its audiences.
In particular, the aim is for you to reflect on the possibilities for exhibiting your own work. You will be looking at the impact of presentation or distribution on, and the part it plays in, the work, as well as the way in which exploring various possibilities in their own right can help in the realisation, resolution and evolution of your work.
Project Brief
To explore the possibilities of exhibition, we are asking you to engage in a particular activity. We want you to research, speculate on and plan an ideal format for the exhibition or distribution of work you have made or might yet make.
You will start by looking at other exhibitions, considering various formats for presentation and distribution and their implications, and then research the aspects that you find relevant and important, before moving on to outline a plan and argument for a format of exhibition you would find ideal.
This research and reflection will lead to two assessable outcomes.
1. The first outcome is a presentation that you will submit in a documentary format. Your presentation should introduce and detail the concept of your ideal exhibition format and research informing it. This is the Presentation of practice and enquiry specified on the Unit brief. Your presentation can be
2. The second outcome is a padlet, which you will use to record your research as you go. This is the Record of Exhibition Visits specified on the unit brief. Please start your new padlet at the beginning of the unit and link it to your tutor group padlet, as you have for previous units.
